چکیده

Premise Lantana and Lippia (Verbenaceae) are two large Linnean genera whose classification has been based on associated fruit traits: fleshy vs. dry fruits one seed-bearing units. We reconstruct evolutionary relationships the evolution of traits to test validity these for classification. Methods Previous studies plastid DNA sequences provided limited resolution this group. Consequently, seven nuclear loci, including ITS, ETS, five PPR were sequenced 88 accessions Lantana/Lippia clade three outgroups. Results Neither nor is monophyletic. Burroughsia, Nashia, Phyla, several Aloysia species included within comprising Lippia. provide a hypothesis biogeographic history in group their relevance Conclusions Fleshy evolved multiple times thus not suitable taxonomic characters. Several sections small monophyletic, but section Zappania broadly paraphyletic, making circumscription difficult. sect. Rhodolippia polyphyletic characterized by convergence showy bracts. Species Sarcolippia, previously transferred Lippia, The originated diversified South America, with at least four expansions into both Central America Caribbean Africa. types occur sister clades, rendering any taxonomy that retains either genus similar its current impossible.

Investigating the evolution of Lantaneae (Verbenaceae) using multiple loci

Lantaneae are an example of a taxonomically problematic, widespread and recently radiated Neotropical lineage. Taxonomy in Lantaneae is difficult because of complex, overlapping patterns of shifts in morphological traits among members; monophyly of the traditional genera cannot be assumed without additional information from molecular data. We took a multi-locus approach to infer phylogenetic re...

A molecular phylogeny and classification of Verbenaceae.

UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Verbenaceae consist of trees, shrubs, lianas, and herbs distributed primarily in Latin America, where they occur in a wide array of ecosystems. A second center of diversity exists in Africa. Competing morphology-based classifications that rely on different traits conflict in significant ways. A broad phylogenetic study was undertaken to assess those classifica...

Evolution of morphological traits in Verbenaceae.

PREMISE OF THE STUDY A new infrafamilial circumscription of the Verbenaceae with eight tribes: Casselieae, Citharexyleae, Duranteae, Lantaneae, Neospartoneae, Petreeae, Priveae, and Verbeneae, has been recently proposed, on the basis of molecular phylogenetic studies. Two genera, Dipyrena and Rhaphithamnus, remain unplaced. The aim of this work is to reconstruct the evolutionary history of morp...

PHYLOGENY OF THE LACERTIDAE Genera

the Lacertidae is one of the most diverse and widespread lizard families throughout Eurasia and Africa. Several studies so far have attempted to unravel the phylogeny of Lacertidae using morphological and molecular data. However, the intra-family relationships remain unclear. in an effort to explore the phylogenetic relationships within the family Lacertidae, a concatenated dataset of 5727 bp f...

the evaluation of language related engagment and task related engagment with the purpose of investigating the effect of metatalk and task typology

abstract while task-based instruction is considered as the most effective way to learn a language in the related literature, it is oversimplified on various grounds. different variables may affect how students are engaged with not only the language but also with the task itself. the present study was conducted to investigate language and task related engagement on the basis of the task typolog...
